Maleficent ignored Luke's comments and decided that the only way to know how the door can be opened is to know how it had been closed. "Tell, me, Lucrezia, how did such a great force become trapped in such a space? Do you know the name of the Keyblade wielder who imprisoned you?"

"Of course, I happen to know all of his names. He lives at the end of the main street, in what used to be our house. You can come back here to see him, though. He visits every afternoon, with some supplies, a book to read to us, and a heavy heart full of guilt. I suppose that means, he really is the only one who can set us free. Damn."

He scrambled over to her, cyber goggles hanging off his head. "The lock is flawed ya know.."

"I know that, but even the shadows can't get through the opening; we've tried that. Some how presents can come in, refuse go out, but nothing else."

"I wouldn't worry about the flaw or the lock. There are many ways to free you from your prison, my pets. Leave this to me, and you will be back home in the darkness before weeks end."

"A week? Is it just me or does this sound like a bit of a crap deal, Luke? And why should we trust her?" Lucrezia said quietly, turned to her adopted son. She then stopped and looked at the other heartless who seemed to be deeply offended by the thought of not following Maleficent. "Oh-kay. She's the one who sent you all here, isn't she? I guess we'll be waiting a week then."

"Pets??" His brow furrowed as he drew his knees to his chin to hide his face."I don't want to go to the darkness. It's not home..and we have no choice but to wait...you ever think she gets her horns stuck on stuff?"

"Luke, darkness is our new home. I promise it's much more comfortable than here. There's so much more space," Lucrezia tried to console Luke, while wrapping her arms around his hunched shoulders. "And you know, I bet she gets them caught on light fixtures all the time. Especially crystal chandeliers... and just think about ceiling fans." Lucrezia chuckled, though it was somewhat forced, and patted Luke on the back. "You know I bet tomorrow, when we get to hear the end of the story, you'll feel a lot better. Maybe even excited about getting out of here."

Lori sat down at the kitchen table and slouched back in the chair. Chris poured two tall glasses of milk and sat across from her with a knowing, compassionate expression on her face.
"Was he like this when you knew him?" Lori bemoaned while dunking a chocolate chip cookie in the milk and taking a soggy bite.
"You always ask me that. It's not like I KNEW him. I just don't know why you're still living with the man if he makes you this miserable. Everyone knows someone as great as him has to have too much wrong with them to be bearable, or even human. He makes an excellent leader and motivator, but behind closed doors... that should just be left alone. You know we still have that spare room, if you don't mind the fact that we just painted it pink. I'm sure Ralph will be fine with you staying a week or two while you get back on your feet," Chris replied before taking a drink of milk and shoveling a spoonful of dill relish in her mouth. "Hmmm. needs some... peanut butter," she mused before waddling over to the cabinet.
"I can't just leave him alone. He'd just get worse. Besides I'd never intrude. Ralph doesn't seem to like me too much."
"You need to do something, besides letting him ruin your life. This is the third time this week you've come over here. Remember the sisterhood. You have to trust us; the whole point of the group was to have us look out for eachother. Now, let me look after you and don't mind Ralph. I'm having his baby, he'll do whatever I tell him to," Chris demanded waving the peanut butter filled spoon for emphasis.
"Yeah, trust the sisterhood, four members strong. And what's with Gina lately anyway?"
"She didn't tell you..." The girl talk went on for hours. Lori decided she may as well stay the night, just to clear her head, and curled up on the futon still in the future nursery. Why couldn't she be like them. It was so romantic-- marrying and starting a family with your childhood friend, after surviving adversity and trials (literaly conspiracy, murder, and kidnapping trials), settling down as pioneers in a new place with all those close war buddies. She always felt so left out, being the newbie who arrived on the last shuttle to Mars. Lori was no criminal or enemy of the state. She wasn't hiding or sent here, and that fact made her alone.

Steam poured from the bathroom. One good thing about Lori's habit of running away was he didn't have to share the hot water..or the conditioner. He bent over shaking his waist length hair from a towel turban.A very worn bathrobe concealed his well cut frame as he plodded to the kitchen. He was sober, but not sober enough to clock in..but a few Prairie Eggs would fix that. He set out 3 cups, bottle of hot sauce, canister of pepper, and 3 shots of whiskey..and took a deep breath.

Dorothy knocked harshly on the door. "Mr. Milliardo ! Mr.Milliardo, it's Dorothy. Are you all right in there?" she shouted through the portal. No one had seen hide nor hair of their elected leader in days, and with more failed agrarian experiments things were looking more and more hopeless for the small civilization. The people needed him, if only to say a few words of encoaragement, and desperately.

He slammed the glass down, glad for once not to have a gag reflex. "I'm dead."

"Of course you are Mr. Milliardo, but are you feeling well? And are you going to let me in or not?"

He tied the bathrobe tighter about his waist and shuffled to the door. "They wouldn't happen to have a cure for a migraine...would they?"
